Kamala Beach

A quiet relaxed beach which also comes alive with surf  competitions from time to time.  A beach loved by expats and locals and a great place for a beach picnic.

Kamala beach is the next beach north after Patong and has a much more low key local feel to it.  It has a pretty location surrounded by green hills and none of the frills of a tourist beach. Kamala itself has a fair few places to eat or to get a takeaway from and enjoy down on the beach. There are a few sunloungers around but do not expect too much else. There are some trees lining the beach for shade.

Head to the north end of the beach where you'll find a beach hut serving snacks and drinks. There are some watersports such as jetskiing usually available in high season and you can also rent a longtail boat to explore neighbouring beaches.  The hotel tour desks nearby will also be able to arrange other water based activities such as parasailing.  There are no toilet facilities at Kamala beach so you will need to visit one of the beach hotels for this.
