Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) will be heating up the mid term break, 15 – 19th February, with their highly popular 5 day Brazilian Soccer Camp for boys and girls, ages 6 – 12 years, hosted at Phuket International Academy Sports, Arts and Wellness Centre’s FIFA futsal field. The cost of the 5 day camp is 4,000Baht per child, or 800Baht per day per child.
BSS use Futebol de Salao (FDS), which is a 5-a-side version of football of South American origin that is played with a smaller (size 2), heavier (465gm) ball that has virtually no bounce (10%). The Brazilian Soccer Camp programme will consist of daily training with the unique FDS moves to beat players also incorporating turns, passing, juggling and core skills. Each day has a 3 on 3 world cup with awards for the winners, MVP’s and special prizes for the best goal celebration. Participants will enjoy a fun filled day with face painting, samba music and quizzes being a unique feature of the BSS Camps. Professional coaches will ensure a highly supervised, educational and fun environment throughout the camp.
“Futebol de Salao is really how I got started. This is my love, the thing I enjoy the most ,’’ stated Ronaldo, Brazil, Real Madrid and Former FIFA World Player of the World.
The game of Futebol de Salão became popular in Brazil where players such as Pele, Rivelino, Zico and right through to Juninho, Ronaldo, and Rivaldo were brought up first playing FDS before moving onto traditional football. They have all attested to the fact that Futebol de Salão made a great impact on their soccer skills. The International Confederation of Futebol de Salao (ICFDS), having originally set up Brazilian Football Academies and Soccer Schools in the UK, now oversee the game throughout the world and have professionally managed centre’s open in numerous countries.
Craig Brown, Director of Football Development for the Scottish Football Association commented, “Futebol de Salao is an effective teaching tool in the acquisition of ball mastery skills.’’
