Shopping for Kids in Phuket
Toys
There are a range of toys available in the basement of Central Festival or upstairs at Robinsons Plaza in Jungceylon or at Robinsons in Phuket city. Toys R Us have two small stores one in Jungceylon and one at the HomePro village in Chalong (where Villa Market is). Do be careful buying any cheap toys as they definitely won't meet any safety standards. A fairly limited range of books can be purchased at B2S in Central Festival or at two or three bookstores in Jungceylon. Most of the major department stores (Robinsons, Central, Outlet Mall) have children's departments where birthday gifts can be bought. You can also order outdoor play equipment (STEP and Tikes) from Sports Stores and Central Festival.
Clothes
Clothes can be bought at any of the above but can be quite expensive as most are imported brands. Cheaper clothes items can be bought at Tesco Lotus or Big C but do not expect to get much wear from them. Central Festival and Robinson do however have regular sales where you may pick up some brand name clothes at half price. Most Phuket parents agree that decent shoes are near impossible to buy in Phuket. It might be worth taking a weekend trip to Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur for a quarterly shoe/clothes shop.
